Celebrate with us! The night before Bloomington Mapworks III opens to the public, we’re throwing a party for the Mapworks artists, sponsors, and other BTAC friends. Be the first to see the artists’ interpretations of eight Bloomington landmarks and enjoy hors d'oeuvres by CRAVE, a cash bar, and live music by Brother Timothy. Tickets are required and may be purchased for $20 online or by calling the Bloomington Box Office at 952-563-8575.
Bloomington Mapworks III is the third in a series of related exhibits curated by artist Erik Sletten and will feature six Twin Cities artists’ interpretations of each of eight Bloomington landmarks: Nine Mile Creek, the Old Town Hall, Normandale Community College’s Japanese Garden, the Bush Lake Ski Jump, Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Bloomington Civic Plaza, Mall of America, and David Fong’s Restaurant. Bloomington residents selected the landmarks through a survey conducted in August 2011.
Bloomington Mapworks III encourages the exhibiting artists and the broader community to explore the historical, cultural, and aesthetic significance of the featured landmarks. An exhibition catalog, preview party, and artist talk will supplement the exhibit and provide a range of opportunities to appreciate the artwork and nurture community cohesiveness and pride.
To share your story or special memory about one of the eight Bloomington Mapworks landmarks or for more information about the exhibition and related events, please contact Visual Arts Director Rachel Daly Flentje at 952-563-8570 or email@example.com.
